It is so unfortunate that the wounds of inequality must be visibly raw for people to even acknowledge that these differences exist. We will need to stay vigilant at systematically changing systems, policies, procedures, attitudes, and other institutionalized norms that perpetuate disadvantages for some and advantages for others. Peaceful demonstrations and protests call our attention to the work that must be done.
